Savvy Ways to Use Reclaimed Wood throughout Your Home

Do you have extra wood laying around your home or lumber that you don’t know what to do with? You can repurpose that old wood in a variety of ways around the house. There are plenty of trendy projects that you can DIY to make it unique to your style and help you save big bucks. Stain it to your liking and give it that rustic or farm-house look you are going for. Learn how to spruce up your home with these savvy tips on using reclaimed wood!

By adding floating shelves to your kitchen, bar area, bedroom, hallway or living room, you can maximize counter space. Don’t be afraid to arrange the shelves at different height levels to give your walls some dimension and character. Your bathroom shelves never looked so good with reclaimed wood and clear jars full of aesthetically pleasing toiletries!

Pallet Wall

You may have heard of the classic shiplap idea to add to bare walls. However, having reclaimed wood makes it that much more real by adding texture and history to your walls. The natural elements of reclaimed wood make it a great feature to add as an accent wall. You can mix and match the types of wood you have leftover to build pallets and create your own unique look. Add reclaimed wood around the fireplace, basement walls or even take it up to your ceiling for that extra “wow” factor.

Coffee/End Table

Gather your guests and amaze them by explaining where you got your coffee table from. Start by creating a pallet as the base and build the structure from there. In this case, start with the legs. Even if you do not have enough wood to make an entire table, you can use reclaimed wood as a tabletop or add extra accessories like coasters or a serving tray to be the centerpiece.

Wood Lanterns

Using the reclaimed wood adds a rustic and barn-style look that you can use to illuminate throughout your entire home. Set up lanterns throughout your living room floors, around the fireplace, on kitchen countertops and around your patio furniture. While there are many types of material of lanterns on the market, reclaimed wood is hard to find and can get pretty pricey. So make it on your own and have fun with it.
